Welcome to “Pop Goes the Plaza!,” a temporary street closure installation presented by DesignShed in partnership with Montclair Center BID.

Streetscape design for Pop Goes the Plaza! is the result of a week-long design charrette led by DesignShed, with local architects, designers and planners.
 
Pop Goes the Plaza! transforms Church Street, in Montclair’s Downtown district, from streets for cars into a plaza for people and public space, COVID-19 style. The transformation includes new pavement surfaces, modular seating, lighting, and overhead shade. The design is conceived as a kit of parts that can pop up in various configurations throughout Montclair.
